I am researching technologies for self-reproducing bionic trees for mars for food production, radiation shielding, oxygen production, magnetic field generation and water purification. I'm looking for a forum. Any links available?

It is difficult to imagine that trees, even bio-engineered trees, could live in the surface of Mars under current conditions because the air pressure is too low and there is not enough oxygen. Trees need oxygen for their root system all the time and leaves use it at night. However, food can be grown in enclosed, pressurized greenhouses, either on the surface, using natural sunlight, or underground, using high efficiency LED lighting. Energy to power the lights would be collected using solar cells on the surface. Enclosed greenhouses can be more productive than even farms on open fields on the Earth because they can provide ideal growing conditions.

Indoor farming technology is already being used on Earth. A company in Chicago tried using high intensity lighting to produce food indoors. This turned out to be too expensive to be economically competitive in the United States, but it apparently was successful in producing fresh, quality produce for several years. However, another indoor farm in Japan appears to be more successful.

You are stupid. Like literally retarded. You can't colonize Mars because things can't live there, it is INCAPABLE of maintaining the life we know. This means we would have no food, we would have to transport it from Earth and frankly that render it pointless at that point. You cannot sell Mars samples for 100 million. Not even universities are that stupid, hard to believe. You also promise your nonexistent supporters a considerable profit, that's funny. To whatever kids find this site, do not fund it, it's a scam. "The Martian Federation Society" first of all is entirely grammatically incorrect, and it's not a real company/goal. If you're gonna scam people, try to make it a plausible cause.

It's funny that people who call other people names are usually showing the world that the insult really applies to themselves. The attitude reflected in your user name "BombTheLibrary" is probably the reason you know so little about the potential for space colonization. - Of course you can grow things on Mars! They have already grown things in the International Space Station which is floating in the middle of empty space where there is no air and no gravity. On Mars there is dirt, water, light, CO2, nitrogen, and gravity, all the requirements for growing plants. You have to grow them in slightly pressurized greenhouses but it is definitely possible with current technology. Once you have plants you can then have animals and people. It would be a high tech society and food would be expensive but everything else is very cheap. There is lots of free (unclaimed) land and minerals on Mars. Food actually represents a small part of people's total living expenditures and here on Earth things are getting pretty crowded and we are coming close to running out of a lot of resources.

When it comes to the universities of the world spending $100 million on samples from Mars you have to realize that there are a lot of universities in the world. In the United States alone there are almost 5000 accredited universities. Most university research in the United States is funded by the federal government and they can afford the $100 million. Furthermore, I am sure that many people will spend $20 or $30 for a small grain of sand from Mars if it is placed in an attractive case. The activities of the space craft will be available on internet and advertising will generate a significant amount of revenue.

Progress always starts with one or two people having an idea and a vision for the future. Furthermore, in the past, those people have often been told that they were stupid or crazy by ignorant and uncreative people. We don't have a multimillion dollar company yet, but we just started less than a month ago. Come back in a few months and see how things are going!
